ASMI Staff in Action

ASMI staff gathered on Dec. 4, 2017, for training at ASMI Headquarters in Falls Church, VA.
Topics included six sigma quality work improvement, customer service, and work place etiquette and civility.

Beth Armstrong, ASMI President and Account Executive (back row, right), participated in a task force

Staff Training: On Feb. 4, 2014, ASMI staff completed the first module on Organization Types and Management Structures as part of a Qualified Association Specialist (QAS) certificate program just launched by the Florida Society of Association Executives this year. The program requires completion of 12 modules, including sessions on nonprofit financial management, meetings production, legal issues, structure and governance, and more. A quiz after each module verifies satisfactory completion. ASMI has committed 14 of its staff to earn the designation in 2014.

Sue Denston and Clay Tyeryar were in Savannah, Georgia, on Feb. 25, 2014 for a site visit and ran into an interesting character. As Forrest Gump always says, "Life is like a box of chocolates."

ASMI Account Executive (NASEMSO Executive Director) Dia Gainor  received the 2013 Outstanding Wildfire EMS Distinguished Service Award at the NASEMSO Mid-Year Meeting on Mar 4, 2014  in Orlando. Her service was recognized to enhance awareness on the national stage as a passionate advocate. The award was presented by Gene Madden on behalf of the National Wildfire Coordination Group.

Sue Denston, President of Operations (seated center), ASMI, was recognized on Dec. 3, 2013, for 30 years of services. Sue was presented with a Tiffany's necklace by ASMI owner Harry Buzzerd. On July 24, 2013, the International Association of Emergency Managers hosted  a delegation of 18 representatives of Chinese universities focused on public health and emergency management. Staff facilitated discussion on resilience, trauma, EMS, disaster and public health preparedness.
